Terry Beecham

Chief of Police

Chief Terry Beecham graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1972 and was hired at the Lawrenceburg Police Department in 1974. He worked as a patrol officer until 1978 when he was promoted to shift lieutenant. In 1980 he began to work for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) as a Public Safety Officer for TVA Nuclear Security at Browns Ferry and in 1985 was promoted to training lieutenant.

From 1990 to 1994, he served as Chief Deputy Sheriff of Lawrence County, followed by service as the Ethridge Chief of Police from 1995-2000. In 2006, he served as Chief Deputy Sheriff again until 2010. Terry returned to the Lawrenceberg Police Department (LPD) in 2011 to serve as a patrol officer, until he was appointed Chief of Police in 2016.

With over forty years of law enforcement experience, Terry has followed in the footsteps of his father, Chief Coyce Beecham, who served our city well as LPD Chief of Police in the 1970's. Chief Terry Beecham is an active member of the National Rifle Association, the Police Benevolent Association, and the Fraternal Order of Police, and has served on the Lawrenceburg Housing Authority Board.
