The Mayor and Board of Commissioners met in regular session on November 7, 2002. The following members were present: Commissioner Robert Pulley, Commissioner Bid Lindsey, Commissioner Buford Goolsby, Mayor Blake Lay and Commissioner Chris Gowen.
With a quorum present, the meeting was called to order.
The meeting opened with Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
A motion was made by Commissioner Gowen to approve the minutes of the October 17, 2002 meeting, with a second by Commissioner Goolsby. Motion passed.
Mayor Lay thanked those in attendance at the Third Annual Prayer Breakfast.
Mayor Lay announced that city offices will be closed Monday, November 11, 2002 in observance of Veteran’s Day. Residential garbage pick-up scheduled for Monday will be picked up Thursday.
Also, Mayor Lay announced “Aviation Week” with tours and an air show on November 8th and 9th, and the dedication of Veteran’s Memorial Park on Monday, November 11, 2002 at 2:00 PM on Shoal Circle. Everyone is invited to all these events, and we appreciate your participation.
Mayor Lay extended congratulations to all newly elected officials.
Special guest at this meeting were Sarah Johnson, Music Teacher at Ingram Sowell School and three of her students; Rachel Helton Wright, Janet L. Scott and Caroline Prince. The young ladies invited the Commission and citizens to a music program entitled “Freedom” presented at Ingram Sowell at 9:30 AM on Monday (Veteran’s Day.)
Attorney Betz presented one resolution for consideration.
Resolution # 2002-7-11 – To dispose of Lawrenceburg Flood Control Project assets through the Lawrenceburg Planning & Development Department of the City of Lawrenceburg. Motion to approve was made by Commissioner Gowen, with a second by Commissioner Lindsey. Motion passed unanimously.
With no further business to come before the Board, a motion was made by Commissioner Lindsey to adjourn, with a second by Commissioner Pulley. Meeting adjourned.
