Commissioner Lindsey to approve the minutes of the August 23, 2001
meeting; with a second by Commissioner Goolsby, the motion passed.
Mayor Lay announced that City Administration Offices will be closed Monday, in observance of Labor Day, and he will be at the Sacred Heart Festival in the dunking booth at 7:00 p.m.
Mayor Lay asked Joe Baxter to inform the Commission and the public of our progress in the storm water control process.
Mr. Baxter announced that the City of Lawrenceburg would apply for Disaster Recovery Initiative Funds provided by Housing and Urban Development. These funds are available as a result of the presidentially declared flood disaster of July 1998. The funds will be used for reimbursement of the local share portion of the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program and the Flood Mitigation Assistance acquisition of flood plain properties; acquisition of properties in the areas of Waterloo Street, West Gaines, and Old Waynesboro Highway for the purpose of floodplain clearance; acquisition of properties in the areas of Jackson Street and Remke Avenue for the purpose of constructing a flood control system to mitigate the flooding hazard to residences and businesses in the North Military Avenue; acquisition and easements of properties for the purpose of constructing a flood control system to mitigate the flooding hazard to residences and businesses located along the "Shoal Creek Collector" storm water channel from North Locust Avenue to the outfall south of Alumni Field at E.O. Coffman Middle School; construction of retention and detention basins, pumping stations, bridges and culverts and an open channel drainage system to alleviate repetitive flooding in the aforementioned areas.

Attorney Alan Betz had two resolutions for consideration:
01-30-8A - To enter into a lease agreement with Buffalo River Services for the property located at 2300 Helton Drive. Motion to approve was made by Commissioner Lindsey, with a second by Commissioner Pulley. Motion approved.
01-30-8B - To charge off bad debts in the Water, Sewer, Gas and Sanitation Departments for June 2001 in the amount of $5,278.05. Motion to approve was made by Commissioner Lindsey, with a second by Commissioner Goolsby. Motion passed.
Mayor Lay asked Police Chief Shay for his announcement.
Chief Shay announced the hiring of four new police officers; Jeffery Carroll, Stacy Faulkner, Phillip Gerber, and Jeremy Methvin. These officers will begin service on September 17.
With no further business to come before the meeting a motion to adjourn was made by Commissioner Lindsey, with a second by Commissioner Pulley. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned.
