Commissioner Gowen to approve the minutes of the August 2, 2001 meeting;
with a second by Commissioner Goolsby, the motion passed.
Mayor Lay announced David Crockett Days this weekend at David Crockett Park, with some events on the Square. Mayor Lay also spoke on the upcoming Antique Tractor and Engine Show on August 18 and 19.
Mayor Lay also invited everyone to the Public Meeting on the Storm Water Study at 6:30 p.m. at Rotary Park tonight.
A public hearing was held on the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant (LLEBG). Police Chief Terry Shay informed the Commission and attending citizens that this grant is in the amount of $19,000.00 with a $2,000.00 match; and will be used to purchase equipment, such as the cameras for our police cars. Two citizens asked a few questions and the meeting closed.
Attorney Betz had one ordinance and one resolution to present.
#946 - An ordinance to amend ordinance #931, being the 2000-2001 fiscal year budget for the City of Lawrenceburg. Motion to approve on second and final reading was made by Commissioner Lindsey, with a second by Commissioner Goolsby. Motion passed.
01-9-8 - To waive the building permit fee for Lawrence County to construct a waste transfer station on Bailer Drive. Motion to approve was made by Commissioner Gowen, with a second by Commissioner Lindsey. Motion passed.
Under Citizens Request, Mr. Bobby Thompson addressed the Commission concerning the fee he pays for dumpster use on his two buildings next to the Old Timer's Club. The dumpsters on the square were part of the Square Historic Commercial Garbage Collection District. Mr. Thompson indicated that the dumpsters would be basically empty on Friday afternoon and by Monday morning they will be full. He asked if it was illegal for others to be using the dumpsters, and the reply was yes. We will attempt to locate the individuals using the dumpster illegally and prosecute. His fee will also be addressed.
With no further business to come before the board a motion was made by Commissioner Lindsey, with a second by Commissioner Gowen to adjourn. Motion passed, meeting adjourned.
