Commissioner Gowen to approve the minutes of the July 12 meeting; with a
second by Commissioner Pulley, the motion passed.
Mayor Lay announced the opening of BiLo and their importance to the economy of our community. He also informed the Commission of a meeting with Charter Communications this past week and their promise of improved service to our citizens, and working to improve airing of the Commission Meetings.
Attorney Betz had three ordinances and two resolutions for presentation:
Attorney Betz presented a resolution to make certain accounting adjustments and transfer of assets from the Water, Sewer and Gas Department to the City of Lawrenceburg; this is an accounting measure prior to the passage of Ordinance # 943. Resolution was passed as described below.
#943 - To transfer the responsibility for the City of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee Water Department, Sewer Department and Gas Department to the Lawrenceburg Board of Public Utilities from the Board of Mayor and Commissioners of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. To amend Ordinance Numbers 884 and, 932, Title 2, Chapter 4, Title 2, Chapter 6, Title 19, Chapter 2, Title 19, Chapter 3 of the Lawrenceburg Municipal Code, repeal or amendment of conflicting ordinances, effective date. Motion to approve on second and final reading was made by Commissioner Gowen, with a second by Commissioner Pulley. Motion passed.
#944 - To approve the budget appropriations of revenues and expenditures for the 2001-2002 fiscal year providing for the operation, administration and maintenance for the municipal government for the City of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Motion to approve on first reading was made by Commissioner Pulley, with a second by Commissioner Gowen. Motion passed.
Public Hearing on Ordinance #944 is scheduled for August 2, 2001.
#945 - To establish the 2001 property tax rate; to levy taxes and to levy Ad Valorem Taxes on all property, real and personal, within the corporate limits of the City of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, subject to taxation. Motion to approve on first reading was made by Commissioner Pulley, with a second by Commissioner Lindsey. Motion passed.
01-19-7A - To make certain accounting adjustments and transfers of assets from the Water, Sewer and Gas Departments to the City of Lawrenceburg. Motion to approve was made by Commissioner Gowen, with a second by Commissioner Pulley. Motion passed.
01-19-7B - To enter into easement agreements with Mr. And Mrs. Odus Campbell and Mr. and Mrs. Orpah Hendrix, for the Weakley Creek Road pump station. Motion to approve was made by Commissioner Lindsey, with a second by Commissioner Gowen. Motion passed.
Margaret Weathers gave a report on the June sales tax. Sales tax revenues are down 9% from May of this year, but up 12% over the same period last year.
Mr. Huffer and Mr. Baxter informed the Commission that plans have been made for the Army Corps of Engineers, and Ensafe will make their storm water plan presentation to the Commission on the evening of July 31 at the City Administration Building. A public hearing for effected residents is planned for August 9, at 6:30 P.M. at Rotary Park.
With no further business to come before the board a motion was made by Commissioner Gowen, with a second by Commissioner Pulley to adjourn. Motion passed, meeting adjourned.
