Upon a motion by Commissioner Lindsey and a second by Commissioner
Beard, the minutes of the March 1, 2001 meeting were approved
Beverly Horner and Karen Harris of Kraft Brothers, the City of Lawrenceburg's auditing firm made a presentation to the Commission.
Ms. Horner stated that there were no major issues concerning the audit and complimented the Mayor, Board of Commissioners and staff on instituting a lot of programs in physical management and internal controls.
Commissioner Pulley indicated that this is the first year that Kraft Brothers have audited the City of Lawrenceburg, and stated that there were a lot differences in the way Kraft Brothers did things. This caused the employees to spend a lot of time and effort in collecting records and reporting to the auditors.
Commissioner Pulley along with Mr. Ron Cato of the Lawrenceburg Power System presented the Commission with the possibility of doing a feasibility study to allow the Power System to get into fiber optic technology. This would allow for the city to engage in Cable Television, Internet access and other technology.
Many cities are looking into this technology and some have already begun the installation. A proposal may be brought back later to enter into the feasibility study.
Commissioner Beard informed the Commission and public that there is some construction going on in Bobby Brewer Park, and thanked the County Highway Department for the donation of the use of their equipment on this project.
Secretary Treasurer Tom Head informed the Commission that we are working on budget billing, much like the Power System and also a credit card payment plan.
With no further business to come before the board, motion was made by Commissioner Lindsey to adjourn. Upon a second by Commissioner Pulley, the meeting adjourned.
