Minutes of the February 22, 2001 meeting were approved upon a motion by
Commissioner Gowen and a second by Commissioner Beard. Motion passed
Commissioner Lindsey made a motion, that when and if, the Charter changes come back from legislature, that citizens have an opportunity to vote on it - yes or no. His motion failed for lack of a second.
Consultant Don Howell informed the Commission of the issue and quick sale of the bonds for the City of Lawrenceburg, and that Moody's Investor Service has upgraded the city's credit rating to Baa1, a major accomplishment for the City reflecting sound, prudent financial management.
Mr. Howell also informed the Commission that the average interest rates over the 18 year life of the issue is 4.76%
Utilities Director Steve Huffer and utilities employee Jerry Brewer made a presentation on the televising and cleaning of our sewer system by Moore's Construction Company.
Attorney Betz had 1 ordinance and 1 resolution for presentation:
Ordinance # 936 to amend Ordinance number 789 entitled the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Lawrenceburg, by adding a new section 4.130 in article IV, dealing with the minimum design standards for transmission and communication towers and stations. Motion to approve on second reading was made by commissioner Gowen, with a second by Commissioner Beard. Motion passed.
Resolution(s) 1. To charge off bad debts in the Water, Sewer, Gas and Sanitation Departments for January 2001, in the amount of $4,661.98. Motion to approve was made by Commissioner Beard with a second by Commissioner Gowen. Motion passed.
EMA Director Joe Baxter announced a meeting on March 16 in Nashville with the Department of Transportation on the widening of Highway 43 and the storm water drainage system proposed.
Elmer Cook addressed the Commission on some of his concerns regarding the proposed Charter.
Secretary/Treasurer Tom Head announced that this is the last Saturday, the City of Lawrenceburg will be open to receive property taxes.
With no further business to come before the meeting, a motion was made by Commissioner Gowen to adjourn, with a second by Commissioner Beard.
